Since relaunching its campaign in September to puts smiles on faces, charity Absolutely Together has donated over £30,000 worth of leisure activity vouchers to families who have children and young adults with additional needs, which included helping families in Bristol enjoy the festive period by providing over 100 pantomime tickets.
Absolutely Together is part of the Absolutely Leisure Group, a not-for-profit organisation. The group donates all profits to the charity so it can give as many families as possible the opportunity to take part in and enjoy activities together.
The donated vouchers also included free karting sessions at Absolutely Karting’s track in Bristol.
In addition, Absolutely Together provided vouchers to families and schools that cater for special educational needs so children and young adults could enjoy experiences such as swimming or the theatre, or a trip to a local attraction.
David Brind, Group Manager of Absolutely Leisure, commented:
“Financial and physical restrictions can mean youngsters with additional needs and their families can often feel left out and isolated. This can lead to mental ill health and an inability for young people to be active. Our aim is to change this and provide free experiences that can be cherished.
“The pandemic did have an impact on the number of families we were able to work with in 2021, as we had to halt our support. However, this year we are committed to helping even more young people and their families take part in activities that they may otherwise be unable to enjoy by providing more than £100,000 worth of free leisure vouchers.”
Families who have children and young adults with additional needs and SEND schools can find out more or register for leisure vouchers by emailing smilies@absolutely-group.co.uk.
