Migrateful is an award-winning charity which supports asylum-seekers, refugee & migrants in their journey to integration & employment. We do this by preparing them to lead cookery classes where they teach their traditional cuisine, culture & stories.

Chef Atem will teach delicious, authentic Nigerian dishes followed by a sit-down meal. Warm & easy, like being with family!

A sample menu of the dishes that will be taught include:

  • Jollof rice | Meat (Chicken, Beef); Celery, Gluten, Soy, Milk
  • Vegetarian Jollof Rice | Vegetarian; Celery, Milk
  • Yamarita (Deep Fried Yam) | Vegetarian; Celery, Gluten, Egg
  • Yamarita Sauce | Vegetarian; Celery, Egg
  • Coconut plantain stew | Vegetarian; Celery, Milk
  • Atem’s Mushrooms | Vegetarian; Milk, Gluten, Soy

A message from our Chef Atem:

“Hello! I am Atem, I am from Crossriver, a state in Nigeria. I learned how to cook from my mum because my dad usually placed emphasis on the girl child in the family knowing how to cook. My favourite spices are chili and seasoning cubes. I never really liked cooking that much until I found out a little secret: food is the spice of life. A mixture of varieties, blends, textures, tastes of seasonings and flavours to give you a pleasant dish. I love traveling, learning something new, and I see it as an opportunity to try lots of new meals and flavours from new places.”
