Poetry Writing Workshop

30 October @ 10:00 am - 4:30 pm

Connect with your rebel voice & write loud!

Create a poem in a day, playing with words in a stunning creative environment with acclaimed writer Anita Karla Kelly. Suitable for beginners and experienced writers, you will use visual stimulus and objects at Rockaway Park as starting points for writing. Because of the Autumnal weather, the fire pit will be lit so you can sit nearby and write, or you can cosy up in the heated classroom. Whichever spot you choose, Anita will support you throughout the process whether you use freeform or structured writing.

Anita runs creative writing and poetry workshops for Stone the Crones and Misfit Theatre Company. Her latest stage play, Buzzing, was part of Bristol Old Vic’s Rep season, tackling sexuality, mental health, teenagers and bees. Her monologue, Flesh, was voted as one of the top eight monologues written in lockdown by The Guardian. Her last radio piece, produced with Naked Productions, received Highly Commended at the BBC Audio Awards, 2021.

She’s been commissioned by Theatre Royal Plymouth for The Day the Birds Disappeared, and is a mentor on the MA programme at Central School of Speech and Drama. She’s currently writing a graphic novel, Land of the Pretty, funded by Arts Council England.

Cost for Anita’s poetry workshop is £50 and includes a delicious home-made vegan lunch. To book, please visit Our Workshops page on our website.
