SUMMARY:The Glory and the Dream: Bristol Bach Choir
DESCRIPTION:Bristol Bach Choir’s The Glory and the Dream has as its centre piece Richard Rodney Bennett’s rarely heard evocative and imaginative setting of Wordsworth’s ‘Intimations of Immortality’. This famous and highly influential poem ponders the passage of time and how the joyous wonder of childhood passes over the years\, and is beautiful\, melancholy\, and optimistic by turns. It features a virtuosic organ part which adds colour to the wonderfully lyrical choral writing. It is joined on the programme by Vivaldi’s much-loved Gloria which is full of Italian sun and timeless melodies\, its multi-movement form including solos\, duets\, and full choruses. The choir also performs some motets by Henry Purcell\, and Jonathan Dove’s Seek him that maketh the seven stars in what will be an inspiring and varied programme. The choir is conducted by David Bednall and accompanied by Nigel Nash.

SUMMARY:Charlie Smith // How Dare She // Sam.Ellia // Tash George
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday\, 14th of October\, for a night of independent acoustic music at The Old England pub. Southampton-based alternative singer-songwriter Charlie Smith will host the event and be joined by three local Bristol-based artists. \nThis event is part of the ‘When I grow up I don’t want to be anything at all’ 2nd album release tour\, which seeks to promote local grassroots music\, not only by featuring talented musicians but also by fundraising for the music venue trust. Charlie Smith will be donating £1 for every album and T-shirt sale to support the vital work that they do. Thanks in advance for your support. \nCharlie Smith \nMy name might be common\, but my style is alternative. I’m Charlie Smith\, a singer-songwriter from Romsey\, Hampshire. I perform solo and have experience playing and hosting my own independent shows at venues such as The Railway Inn\, Flack Manor Brewery\, and The Platform Tavern. I am super passionate about grassroots music and regularly participate in action to grow my local scene. Fiercely independent\, I record and produce all my music with a true DIY ethos. In April\, I hosted six gigs in England as part of my music venue trust fundraiser tour. I managed to fundraise £575\, including events in Leeds\, Manchester\, Liverpool &\nLeicester. \nHow Dare She \nHow Dare She are Naomi Cook (vocals/guitar)\, Louise Victoria (vocals/bass/keys/percussion) and Bindy Dimond (vocals/cajon). Based in Bristol\, they harness a fierce vocal talent\, combining their collective powers with boldly honest songwriting. Stirring and mesmeric harmonies contribute to a stripped back\, intimate and unforgettable sound. \nTogether they deliver music that exists to comfort\, cry out\, rally and connect. Grit and depth are mixed with humour and sass\, and the music is vulnerable\, punchy\, whip smart and mischievous. Their songs speak of injustice\, defiance and love\, but they are not soft. How Dare She are here to be seen and heard. \nSam.Ellia \nSam.Ellia — A budding\, but blooming\, booming Music maker. His Debut album ‘National Dream Day’ is coming out on the 30th of October. \nTash George \nTash George is a singer-songwriter based in Bristol\, playing intimate songs full of feelings for sad folks.
