DESCRIPTION:Experience breathtaking music by some of classical music’s greatest composers\, performed by some of the country’s finest classical musicians\, all presented in stunning candlelight. \nAt the heart of the concert is Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons\, the most recorded work in classical music and a defining showpiece for solo violin. Each concerto depicts a different season\, shaped by accompanying poems – possibly written by Vivaldi himself. Across the four concertos\, Vivaldi transforms the natural world into vivid musical scenes\, evoking birdsong and buzzing flies\, harvest celebrations\, drunken revellers\, barking dogs\, summer storms and winter ice. \nAlongside this\, Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending\, composed on the eve of the First World War\, offers a more reflective perspective. Inspired by George Meredith’s poem\, it captures a pastoral world on the brink of change\, its soaring violin line suggesting a lark gliding high above the mechanised world below\, “lost on his aerial rings / In light\, and then the fancy sings.” \nOpening the programme we have Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro\, an opera drawn from Beaumarchais’ recently banned comedy\, in which a philandering count attempts to seduce his servant’s fiancée\, only to be outmanoeuvred by the servants and his own long-suffering wife. \nWhether you’re already in the know or completely new to classical music\, this is a programme to be enjoyed by all.

SUMMARY:Goblet Cell Charity Ball 2026
DESCRIPTION:Established by Eve Lauder in 2021 who sadly lost her battle with Goblet Cell. The Goblet Cell Ball will return to The Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare\, this year to raise vital funds for Weston Hospicecare\, who provided Eve and her family with invaluable support and care this year. \nThe first Goblet Cell ball in 2021 raised over £7\,000 for Cancer Research and in 2022 we succeeded this number to an incredible £13\,170. The current total raised is an incredible £35\,644.56 . This will be the 5th annual ball where we are on a mission to #bemoreeve and raise even more to the local charity Weston Hospice. \nEve was only 47 years of age when she was diagnosed with stage 4 goblet cell cancer in 2020 . This is an exceedingly rare form of cancer\, affecting only 1 in 2 million individuals\, and unfortunately there is no cure. Being told this new is absolutely life changing\, but rather than letting this hold her back\, Eve spent her last moments raising over £50\,000 for Cancer Research\, £5\,000 for the Eve Care Packages at Weston Hospital and £8\,500 for Weston Hospicecare. Over 200 care packages have since been funded. \nWe ask you to join us in raising more money for Weston Hospicecare and celebrating the life of Eve with her wonderful family. The 2026 event promises to be even bigger and better\, and the evening will include a 3-course dinner\, live entertainment\, charity auction and raffle. \nStandard Tickets include:\n3 Course Dinner\nLive Band & DJ\nAuction\nGolden Ticket Raffle \nPremium Tickets include:\nAll the above\, plus premium seating and a bottle of Red and White wine on the table. \nWe will be playing lots of fundraising games throughout the evening\, including Heads and Tails\, as well as the opportunity to participate in the Charity Auction and Golden Ticket Raffle which features lots of amazing prizes.
