Man dies in hospital after being stabbed in Bristol park

A man has died after he was stabbed during an assault in Bristol.

An investigation has been launched following the incident, which took place at 4.30pm in the centre of the city.

Police and ambulance crews had rushed to the scene following reports of a man being stabbed in Castle Park.

A man in his 30s was found injured and was taken to hospital by paramedics, where he later died. 

A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: ‘The man’s identity has not yet been formally confirmed and we are still working to trace his next of kin. 

‘A cordon is in place while officers carry out enquiries at the scene.

‘Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident in the park, or who have relevant CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage, which could help the investigation.’

A number of nearby roads were cordoned off last night as police carried out initial investigations.

People were told to take alternate routes through the city or to their homes.
